Validate Before Adding to Cart

I have searched and searched thinking this would be something already out there. I apologize if it is something that should be obvious and I overlooked, just point me in the right direction...

Let's say you have a product (e.g., Glove) and it has a size (e.g., Small, Medium, Large) as a product attribute. The default value for size is --Please Select--.

I have customers who are selecting Add to Cart without selecting the size and then I have to call them to complete the order. I want to make a modification that forces the customer to select a size before the item is successfully added to the cart.

The one contribution I found is rather old and I cannot find the proper place(s) to make modifications in the latest and greatest OSCMax.
