Adding A Text Field

My client has osCmax 2.0 and would like to add a personalization field. Is this possible in osCmax 2.0 or do I need to upgrade to 2.5? Also, if I do upgrade, is it difficult to do? Or, should I try to go into the php for categories and make the changes there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for responding. I found text imprint. It looks like it's similar to text options from osCommerce. Could you please elaborate? How are they different from one another. Also, is upgrading to 2.5 a better solution or is this simple to operate?

Just to let you know, with the Text Imprint mod, if you order an item and add some personalization options, then order an identical product with different personalization info, both items will have the same personalization info. To order identical items and have them come out correctly, you will need to order one and check out, then order another identical one and checkout again.

If you solve this problem of test imprint duplicate orders coming out incorrectly please post it here as it is a huge problem.

Has anyone worked out the bug mentioned above with text imprint duplicate orders? Another problem I have found is that when using text imprint and customer orders several products the product information prints out incorrectly in the customer account previous orders. In other words, When a customer orders product A with some names, product B with some dates and product C with some city names, product A will be correct, product B will have the information from both A and B and product C will have the product information of all three. This is in the customer's account only, it is correct in the admin orders and in the order process emails. This mod would be a great mod if only it worked correctly. Does anyone have any ideas?
