deferred payment/reservation system module?

hi all

sorry if this is the wrong place to post my question.

I have a client who will be selling rooms in hotels for yoga holidays and also yoga products. I envisaged the hotel rooms as a product in the same way as a physical product and wanted to use oscmax. however, i don't know if it is possible to use oscmax to provisionally reserve a product (ie so customer can go away and book flights) and then come back and either pay for the product or release it.

does anyone know if a module for this kind of thing exists, or whether oscmax can do this at all - or whether i am completely barking up the wrong tree trying to get oscmax to do this.

You would probably be better off using a specialist piece of software for managing hotel bookings - search at source forge for some free open source options.

If you really want the hotel rooms in the same store as the products then you will need to manage them quite carefully.

Each hotel should have its own "Model" reference and each room type a sub model ref. You will need to track the stock on these "products".

This way if someone has "purchased" a room it will not be available to other people. You will then need to handle the payments in admin - only charging for the physical items in your store and taking payment for the room separately.

I am not convinced you will end up with a very slick solution in an ecommerce store.

osCommerce Community Add-Ons Could be worth a look.

Otherwise ... there will probably be some Drupal/Joomla plugins that do this sort of thing.
