I don't know that answer to that question, but just to throw out another idea (because I had some issues with the multi vendor package in the past), a plan B may be to use product extra fields to associate each product with a vendor name. Then create additional invoices for your vendors under the admin->order editor and pull that product extra field into them. But that may all depend on how you have or need things set up. If you don't mind me asking you something...are your vendors in different warehouses, located in different areas? if so, how was you going to apply shipping charges when a customer purchases 2 or more products in an order, which come from multiple warehouse locations? Just curious - its been my life-long battle in trying to figure that out.

In this scenario my vendors are in different warehouses and in different areas. My thought was to setup a "browse by location" option to see the products for that location. The way I though to achieve this is by setting up a second manufacturer field which will be called locations, and add the locations to it.
Did you have any other issues with mvs?
Thanks for the feedback. I tried setting up MVS last year and couldn't get it to work at all. So I created my own custom version of it for a business I worked with last year. I basically used the strategy that I mentioned above for multivendor - but then made everything free ship to avoid the shipping confusion sense every product was purchasd on one store site. But with its progress updates and a new version of oscmax, it may happen this year for someone. I just don't know for sure. But there are people here who know a lot more about the topic. Maybe they will respond.
By the way I think its a good idea to have people browse by location, in a way thats pleasing/user friendly but also strict per location? That sounds like a cunning plan.

actually, in the mod pack I'm working on there is a field called "distributor" that lists the distributor (vendor) for those that drop ship from multiple locations.
You will notice on the "Manufacturer" line there is a "Distributor" This is a pull down list that is maintained in a separate table called distributors.
There is another mod, called "Generate Orderlist" that is modified to allow you to generate a report/ submission/ packing list that lists all orders to the proper vendor based on the distributor.
[note that this image also shows the product cost mod as well]
And yes, it is a piece of hell to get shipping to work when you have a split product order (shipping from multiple locations). The best solution is to generate shipping quotes for each sub-order, then add them together and show that display. But expect a large number of potential users/customers to balk at high shipping costs (even if all you are doing is recouping your expense).
so endith the lesson
