feature request - one more field for customer groups

I have situations where customers live way out in who knows where and I need to package a special order for them (hence throw on a couple more dollars to the order due to their geographic location). So would it be convincing to say, create one more field for customer groups that says "additional fee"? This way when we assign a customer to a customer group, we can then use the additional fee field to increase the cost, included in the product!

If oscmax already has a solution for this, then my bad - but I just don't see it, especially if the order takes place from the front of the store!

That was a waste of a post! It just hit me that customer groups doesn't just change prices for bulk buys, but also for single item purchases. So I can create a customer group by zip code and adjust prices per item for that geographic location.

It is fairly common in the UK for sellers to indicate upfront, a surcharge for delivery to Highlands and Islands (normally due to courier terms). Where geographic locations are concerned, Zone Rate can accommodate this.

ahhhh, I am looking at zone rates right now under shipping modules. But it only calculates by country...? What about zip code?

Can be used on a per State/County/Region basis.
As it happens, within the next few weeks I'll be looking into Oz postcode delivery (not shipping - 'cos it takes too long to carry boats overland )
