Hi,
I have taken over the management of an osCmax based site that has several static html pages for SEO reasons. These pages have an vertical HTML menu linking to the store categories. I have modified some of the category names to try and optimise the tags for SEO and each time I make a change I have to manually edit all of the links in the HTML Menu of the static pages. In order to cut down on the admin I have just tested splitting the menu block to a separate html page and inserting it via SSI. This works.
To make this even easier I thought that if I could make a modified version the main index.php file or the main template to only show the category menu. I could then include this file via SSI and any changes would automatically be included in the static page. However, after having a look at index.php, I think I would be better creating a template page, but how would I be able to call the modified template page, without it effecting the normal templates?
