It is already installed in osCmax v2.5 (or something similar) - Select recipent from drop down (set in the language file)

The contact form also pre-populates the fields if the user is logged in.

The reCaptcha functionality is pre-installed to protect you against spam.

And following the lastest committ r837 you can control the text displayed on the page via admin.

    Thank you !

I'm still on osCMax v2.0.15, because as far as I know version 2.5 is still not recommended for live stores, right ?

    - Do we know when this beta release will be ready for production ?
    - Will there be an easy UPGRADE version ?

    Cheers,

Correct! Running a live store on Alpha is only for the brave! You have to expect to run into issues - so a good knowledge of PHP, SQL etc is advisable but it is perfectly possible! If you are not much of a coder I would wait for a stable release.

Do we know when this beta release will be ready for production?
When the bugs have been squashed - see bugtracker - not everything on the list is a bug - quite a few are features. (Some new ones may be discovered when people starting using it properly but these should be minor and quick fixes.)

I personally think we are nearly there ... maybe a week or two away ...

Will there be an easy UPGRADE version?
Michael will be writing an Upgrade script that should add the new tables required and a zip file with the new php files for upgrading stores.

    Great news !

Thank you for the detailed answer.

On the other hand, I think that if this is the exact same mod available in 2.5, then it should be safe to add it by hand in my current cart, right ?

I've done quite a lot of modifications on my current store, directly on the script.

Do you think there will be a detailed upgrading file to do everything by hand ? That will take longer but it should be safer as well...

    Cheers,

No reason why you can not get this in to 2.0.15 or earlier if you want.

If you look in the Google Code (Developers link above) you can find all the changes made to the code base by each committ.

Most of the changes you are looking to implement are here. Just take out the reCaptcha stuff if you don't need it.

If you want the reCaptcha stuff then you will need to add the full committ - which is here.

No. There will not be a line by line changes list - this is what the google code tool does for you - if you click "diff" it will show the changes made to each file by each commit. If you are going to keep your original code base then I would use a good file comparison tool to merge in the changes.

No way to make it work for me with the original OsCommerce contrib Tried back and forth several times.

And the Google Code is so different from version 2.0.15 (check admin/includes/boxes/configuration.php), that I can't really get it just by copying and pasting the files from the link you point me too....

I'd like to be able to use all the great mods available all at once, but it seems impossible. And I'm actually now really worried foreseeing the time when I'll actually upgrade to 2.5, because everything looks so different !

    Confused now...

Things are not really that much different, so don't be too put off by your initial impression. Once you get into it a bit, it all starts to make more sense. Come back to it in a few days to let your first try sink in a bit. I think it will go better once you have had some time to let your brain make some connections.

I agree with Michael although I suspect that on first impressions it will look like a lot has changed. Just give it a go ... basically it is mostly the same but with the menu across the top rather down the left hand side.

If you get stuck just post in forums and we can help you out.
