    Default Transparency Issue

The transparency is not working on some of the transparent gifs I have uploaded to my site. It might be related to the folder they are stored in -- images in Catalog - Images - Categories appear fine; images in Catalog - Images - Thumbs may or may not work.

Anyone encountered this or have ideas for a fix?

I am contemplating trying the osCommerce mod -- [TiM's osC Solutions] Cached image thumbnails -- but if there is a simpler solutions I'd prefer to go that route!

Go that route and you'll screw up quite a few things.

The Vegetable category is a good example:

Vegetables : Organic Matters Farm and Food Delivery

Using Firefox, when I right-click on an image, the ones using the transparency are correctly identified as GIFS; the ones NOT using the transparency are incorrectly identified as JPEGS.

I am using osCMax v2.0.25 and PHP 5.0

I should mention that I just finished rebuilding the site. I installed oscMax in a new folder and manually moved the site over. I wasn't having the display issue before. Clearly I've done something wrong!

Are you a Windoze user by any chance (hiding filename extensions)?

eg. beets.gif.jpeg suggests the files are named incorrectly. [Try right-clicking an image and Save As, the default name shows it as being a jpeg file]

I am a Windoze user but I don't hide file name extensions.

    Bizarre!

What browser are you using? I tried saving the images in Firefox but didn't see any reference to jpegs. The filename was ok. However, I tried again in IE and did see on the bad images that they could only be saved as jpegs!!

I wonder if re-saving the images (and then FTPing them rather than using the oscMax upload) would make a difference??

    UPDATE:

I have found that FTPing the images directly to the imagesthumbs sub-folder resolves the issue. I don't even need to re-save them. Something in my oscMax configuration is affecting the images on upload.

I even checked the database though PHPmyAdmin and the file names are referenced correctly in the images TABLE.

    Bizarre.
