Default Sub-Categories as Section Headers

Hi all, I'm starting work on a mod for this as I haven't located any hint of anyone doing this, but thought I'd throw it out here for suggestions and opinions.
I want a complete product list to show within a main category only I want the Subcategories to show as section breaks within the list, like so...

Main Category
-Sub Category 1 Heading
--Product 1
--Product 2
--...so on...
-Sub Category 2 Heading
--Product A
--Product B
--...so on...

Are there any such mods already out there I can glean from?
Any advice on this?
Thanks!

More info needed.

Are these links? Where do you want to display them?

I am going to guess and tell you to look at the SiteMap page already within osCMax and see if that is useful! Put www.yoursite.com/sitemap.php to see it.

Regards,

This is for the product listing.
When a customer selects a main category, I need the full product listing for that category, including the products in the sub-categories.
The products will be grouped by the sub-categories, but ALL products will show in the listing.
Hope that makes sense...
Thanks!

In which case you should start by looking at the sitemap.php code as it has the loop for finding all the subcats and products within a category.

You will need to work out where you want to display this code ... <your template>/content/index_nested.tpl.php is probably the best bet.

Getting closer to making this work. I've gotten as far as looping through all the subcategory (and sub-sub category, etc.) IDs. My big issue is with the product listing itself.
Has anyone tried making the product listing as a function?
