Default Up The Creek WO/Paddle After Trying to Add Dynamic Page!

http://wiki.oscdox.com/adding_new_dynamic_content_pages

above is the page where I followed the instructions to a tee.

Below are the errors I am getting within the admin panel....

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /home/pppcom/public_html/autos/admin/includes/boxes/catalog.php on line 48

I get this error when I try to go to "File Access" under Administrator.

3. Enable access to the file

Add access to define_about.php in the administrator menu by enabling file access
  • Open your admin panel
  • Click on the Administrator Menu box
  • Click File Access in Menu box
  • Select the Catalog row in the central box
  • Click Store Files in right hand column
  • Select define_about.php from the drop down
  • Click Save

Clicking on catalog does nothing.

Below are the errors I am getting on the website;

Warning: include(includes/languages/english/define_mainpage.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/pppcom/public_html/autos/templates/dotcom_6/main_page.tpl.php on line 191

Warning: include(includes/languages/english/define_mainpage.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/pppcom/public_html/autos/templates/dotcom_6/main_page.tpl.php on line 191

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'includes/languages/english/define_mainpage.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/pppcom/public_html/autos/templates/dotcom_6/main_page.tpl.php on line 191

Any help or helpful suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Are you using osCMax? Those instructions in the wiki are for osCMax only, but you have posted this to the standard osCommerce forum.

So first clarify what shopping cart you are using (osCommerce or osCMax), then we can attempt to help you.

at top of my page in the address bar it was reading oscmax.com/forums.
when i go to oscmax.com and click on the forums, am I being redirected to an oscommerce forum page? if so, why are they both so similar? Last time I posted and thought it was an oscmax forum, you said that i was in oscommerce, but yet I began from oscmax.com and clicked forums!... what am I doing wrong?

I am running oscmax, latest version, fairly fresh install within the last month.

any help will be greatly appreciated...

thanks again,

Jim

Question Re: Up The Creek WO/Paddle After Trying to Add Dynamic Page!

You are in this section: osCommerce 2.2 Forums

Post the contents of /home/pppcom/public_html/autos/admin/includes/boxes/catalog.php (use the # symbol on the menu bar to enclose the code).

Line 48 (and just above) bears no resemblance to your error message - so it looks as though you may have overwritten the wrong file.

includes/languages/english/define_mainpage.php
Can't find that file, basically 'cos there shouldn't be one there.

Looks like you messed things up badly...
You did take a backup?

Sure that takes you to the main forums, but uh, there are a bunch of different sub-forums, each with its own topic. The main forum page is divided into sections that are dedicated to their own topics. Please take a minute to familiarize yourself with this before posting to the wrong forum.

ridexbuilder,

I see what you are saying about the "define_mainpage.php" .

However; I am using a template from dotcombuilder and I went back to the original install and found reference of FILENAME: define_mainpage.php throughout various pages from the original install, but there is no " includes/languages/english/define_mainpage.php" file in the original structure either, but it worked fine before I tried to add a dynamic page following the instructions given.

I have went back and tried to undo what i did, most my site is back online, but still screwed up. I would love to recover at least the text from my homepage... any ideas?

Thanks

Doesn't mean that the template is well written (reference the cost of it, for example) and that it matches the version of 'Max you're using.

[With a massive leap in imagination...]
Look in catalog/includes/languages/english/mainpage.php

Well, would you believe that I straightened that mess out, got the code cleaned up, no losses whatsoever, site's back up and working good as ever!

If I wasn't the originator of the mess to begin with I'd almost be proud of myself! lol...

thank you guys for trying to help.

Good to hear.
Have a look in the wiki, to become more acquainted with 'Max.

actually you are right ridexbuilder, no arguements here. The code is all but unusable GARBAGE! but I liked the template layout, style and colors is why I wanted it and am using. Someday in the future when the site takes off and is supporting itself, I will hire a professional programming to completely revamp the site... For now, I will have to settle with doing things the hard way....

thanks for the reference to mainpage.php, but I found it... I was in wrong directory at mainpage.php first time round...
