Image zoom on product.info.tpl.php page

I have been exploring the Magento Cart to see what all the fuss is about - and I have to conclude that whilst it looks prettier straight out of the box it is very resource hungry ... no shared servers allowed, harder to configure, harder to edit, and much much slower, but ...

One of the main things that people/clients seem to like is the image zoom and pan effect on the product info page - so I was wondering if we could replicate/improve this function.

I am looking to improve the product info page to allow users to zoom the product image using this free bit of code I have found. (Flash) Very similar to the magic toolbox code (but free)

The idea would be to use slimbox2 if they click on the "click to enlarge" text link or any of the thumbnails. But if they simply roll over the main image this magnifying glass effect comes on.

Has anyone got any experience installing something like this? I have read the instructions but have not used flash before so I can not see how to dynamically populate the images into the xml file.

Found another one which will probably work better - no xml complications.

It is called jqzoom - I have loaded a demo on my site which works fine but I can not get it to work within oscmax - probably another jquery conflict ...

Has anyone else managed to install this flash tool?

Yep - I was right another jQuery conflict but thanks to JohnW post pointing me to this which explains how to get round this problem - I now have this excellent free zoom tool installed on my site ...

The code loads quickly with no bugs - only a little bit of layout difference between IE and FF. You can offset the zoom where you like - amazing bit of kit really.

Hope someone can use this for their site as well.

(Perhaps it could go in as an option in v2.1 source code ... since the install is a doddle, the code is open source, and is all called through one class on one line in product.info.tpl.php)

I can build some instructions if people think it might be useful.

[I think you need to change that domain name from cottonbarn.info to bleedingedge.info ]
