discount based on weight or order total

Hello. I am looking for a way to automatically provide a discount if customers order a certain amount of items. Ideally this would work by the weight of the items, however a discount based on order total may also work.

Right now I have a discount coupon set up for this but the client would like this to be automatic so that the customer need not enter the code for the discount.

Is this possible?

Do a search for price break ot qty discount. It been discussed a few times. But I don't thing any have been discussed here about discount based on weight.....

I did come across a few posts along those lines in my search. They directed me here - osCommerce: Quantity Price Breaks for Separate Pricing Per Customer - but this (unless i'm misunderstanding) wouldn't accomplish an automatic price break based on an order total. (I'm punting on the weight option at this point. )

Any other ideas?

Qty price break is what I know of - and yes it is automatic ie: 1+ @$12.00 or 10+ @$10.00 or 50+ at$8.00 or so....

You couild look at modifing: Price Sensitive Discount

This module gives a discount on an order based on the total order value.

Breaks can be set at any level, for example

7.5% for orders over $100
10% for orders over 250
12.5% for orders over 500
etc

Does not require Credit Class

Just 2 files to install, no hacking required.

thanks ... i'll have to check this out. this is much more what i am looking to accomplish.
