Delete multiple orders?

The store has orders back dating to 2005 and the database is HUGE now.. I would like to remove all orders and related data - but obviously not the customer data - from 2005 through say Dec 31, 2007. I have searched both here and at forums.oscommerce.com and the contributions there and can not find anything that will accomplish this task..

I'm thinking its has to nothing more than a simple request of the DB to remove all orders from order #xx through order #xxxx

Or is there a sql statement I can issue in phpMyAdmin that will accomplish this task??

Question...Why?

With the actually space in the database might be relatively small compared to the displayed data - Even if you have a large number of item in the database - phyical space is cheap. Ether way would not cause a noticeable slow down on your database - why remove history?

Also here might be issues with customer that might come back to view what they had purchased a year, two or three ago....(bought it - broke it, stolen/lost, want another etc.....).

Because my client want them deleted no other answer except with all these orders the DB is 145MB and slow to back up.. they have maybe 20k of orders in there.. they dont sell that type of product that they need to worry about 4 year old orders, besides its been entered in-house long ago and those records are available

I needed to delete orders because I was copying a database over to a "shadow" development site and I needed to remove the customer and the old orders. That contrib seems to work pretty well, and it sounds like it will do what you want. Best of all, it just drops right into OSCMAX. If you want to delete, make sure you enable that option as the instructions direct...

wow great find.. you wanna know how long I poked around in the contributions area and didnt come across that one!! no you really dont wanna know

A little too late for this project.. I actually am moving a site from a vannila osc to oscmax and wanted to get rid of all the older orders and did it manually -- a visual look see at the DB lines I was uploading to the new DB then I went in with phpMyAdmin and removed all the order numbers that I missed.. seems to have done a good job.. but the client wants all the old orders removed on a regular basis, so this will be perfect!
