Default Is it possible to run 2 domains from one database?

I have a retail store, but I want to keep my wholesale customers separated, because I don't want to make it obvious to retail customers that I also wholesale or dropship.

I am bringing in wholesale traffic to a 2nd domain but am finding it's too timeconsuming to keep both databases updated.

What I want to do is basically draw from the same product database for both usuing separate prices per customer, but if the customer enters thru the retail domain I want them to see one template with that domain name, but on the wholesale site I want them to see another template using the 2nd domain name and I want different text on the index and policies pages.

    Can this be done?

osCMax has an option called customer groups. Retail customers will not be able to see wholesale prices. Just create a wholesale group and set the pricing for that group. Then add your wholesale customers to that group.

All out of one database, and one store.

You would have to do more programming to pull a separate template based on the customer group, but I think it is doable.

You may want to check out the multi-stores contrib for osCMax.

Yes, I knew about the customer's group and separate pricing. It's just that I have separate front ends for 2 totally different domains (not subdomains of one domain) and I only want them to share the catalog database. I don't want the retail customers to even be aware that there is another pricing option. Where can I find the multi-stores contrib for OscMAX? I've seen it for regular osCommerce but not for the BTS templating system of OscMAX.

make a copy of the same store for two sites.
both stores access the same database.
when someone creates an account on the wholesale store they get wholesale pricing otherwise they get retail. Place that on the "front page" in bold (ex: All prices shown are retail, to see wholesale pricing you must have an account.)
when someone creates an account they become part of the wholesale group and get the wholesale pricing based on the group.

There are some other issues that may exist with things like the payment and shipping modules (if they are turned on in one store then they would be on in the other), but for the most part it shouldn't be too hard to operate two stores off one database as for most of the store the database wouldn't contain paths, so it would use the paths from the configure.php for that store.

As for shipping and payment modules, that can be kluged in the checkout process in the templates.

I would also add some logic that would attach the domain to the user record so that you don't allow duplicate login (you can only log in in the domain that you created the account in).

where can we find the mutli store of oscmax ??

As OSCommerce is different I would expect the the contrib be different too

let me know if this is not the case looking at using either oscommerce or oscmax based on what oscmax can bring to the table

I would also tell you to read this forum thread *before* trying anything with Multi Stores.

Short answer - yes you can. IF HOSTED on the SAME server (different domain or subdomains) is much better. You could even run an all SQL ONLY server and run the Web based one(s) separatly too. BUT your host MUST allow proper access.

Multi-Stores I know in general works - But I don't have time to perfect it for OSCMAX.
