Default Customer complete order after disconnect

I wonder if there is a module that can allow a customer to come back to the Catalog, log in, find their order in the system, with some status, and then complete the order by going into checkout procedure? I had a customer lose their connection before completing payment, and I had to process the payment manually. I would like her to be able to login and finish the process.

If this has been discussed here before, I am sorry, but to me, the concept is a bit complex, so searching has not netted the answer yet.

If they have an account created already, all they have to do is login, and their items will still be in their cart. Then they can just checkout.

Michael, That was what I thought should happen, but if I close the browser and switch to another browser (the equivalent of a new session), and login, the order is not in the cart and is showing as a pending order. This is after the order goes out to payment to process (I use Paypal IPN).

Am I explaining myself okay? I hope that there is an answer for this question.

The order cannot be in the cart if it already has been sent to process. Don't you see the contradiction there?

If it has already been sent to paypal, the cart must be emptied.

Okay, and I do see the contradiction, perhaps I could have worded it better. In this case, we had a consumer lose their internet connection at the time when they got to paypal, so they could not complete payment and had to contact us to finish the transaction manually.

Perhaps I can phrase the question like this, is there a way to return a "Pending" order back to the cart, or to let a customer process a payment if the status is not a paid status?

No. Not possible. Once they get to paypal, it is too late to do anything with cart. You would have to manually do it - as you did.

Perhaps one of the other paypal methods would be more appropriate - Paypal websites payment pro. That avoids leaving your site and will not empty the cart until processed.

I appreciate the answers. I guess I will have to explore those options in the future.

Paypal pro (or what used to be verisign pro) is no different in how it processes than authorize. I have used both, and I find that either is better than anything that has the customer leaving the site and then returning.

For three years I ran payflow link (that leaves and returns) and in almost every case when a customer contacted me with and "order number" it was always the payflow transaction not the "order number". Since moving to integrated payment systems I have had no issues.
