Help with changing the images on the front page

When I add new items to the catalog in the admin panel it puts them on the front page under 'whats new for May'...How do I change those images on my front page? I don't like the images it puts there.

To clarify what I mean is I would like to have control over what images show up on the front page of my site instead of the newest items that I type in. I hope there is a way to do that.

Turn off "What's New".

Try seting the number of products to show on the "what's new module" to 0, that might work... (haven't checked since I do not use it)

goto your templates directory and then go to /content
if you don't have index_default.tpl.php in there, then copy it in from the templates/fallback/content directory
edit index_default.tpl.php
find:

            <td><br><?php include(DIR_WS_MODULES . FILENAME_NEW_PRODUCTS); ?></td>
          </tr>

remove it.

Nope!
By doing that you would be disabled the box that shows one single product on the left/right sides of your store. The module on the central part of the store would need to be removed from the central part of your template like met00 explained.

I still can't get the images on the front page to be what I want them to be and not what OSCMAX wants them to be. I keep hitting dead ends. There has got to be a detailed way that I can do this.
Please help me if you can.
