Default Template Creation

Hi everyone,

I know there have probably been a thousand thread before me asking for some help on creating a template. But I can't find anything in terms of help, everyone says edit the tpl.php index file. But it doesn't appear as a WYSIWYG page, just some tables with a bit of php code. But you don't get a real idea of how the site should look.

Where do I go from here?

Many thanks,
Lee

Cant be edited in a wysiwyg editor, at least not fully rendered. You have to upload the changed file to the site/server to see it.

You will get a wireframe view of the layout in your editor though, and that is good enough to change the layout. Then to see it fully rendered, upload it to the server and visit the carts main page.

Ok, but just looking at the wireframe view I can't really tell what is what. Its only about 3cm big and php code is everywhere. Is there no easy way to see what your doing? I have a testing server etc but seems awquard as hel!

Many thanks,
Lee

What editor are you using? It renders just fine in wireframe in dreamweaver. I can see all the tables/layout and it is pretty simple to see what goes where.

It may be awkward to you, but that is the only way to do it. The main template is dynamically built, pulling content from other files, and there is just no way to render that in an editor. You need to execute the php.
