Order Total Priority (not really about sort order)

Hello,

Can anyone help me brainstorm how to do this please?

I have order total modules for quantity discount and also for discount coupons.

I need the quantity discount to only apply if the customer has not entered a discount coupon code.

I guess I would need the sort order of discount coupons to be 2 so it is applied just after sub total, but how would I go about making the quantity discount (sort order #3) only apply if there has been no coupon code applied.

Any thoughts? I'm not totally sure what would be the ideal file to edit.

In the qty discount module you could place a check to see if a discount coupon is being used and if so, not run the module. BUT, you would need to let people know that quantity discounts do not apply when a discount coupon is being used. It actually seems like more of a business problem than a technical one. I think a better option is to not allow discount coupons all together as they promote one-time sales not repeat customers, and then replace that with the customer loyalty module.
