| I've read the previous threads, but I'm so new to all of this that I want to be sure I don't screw something up. I proceeded to upload the catalog folder (to the root) for the free templates Cobalt (as is, as explained). However, the message I get within the FTP window is that the catalog already exists and do I want to overwrite...so I aborted the action & decided to ask here before I continue. Without ever finding anywhere to view a sample of this template, what if I don't like it and wish to revert to the original (or a different one)? I'm nervous to overwrite anything without knowing for sure what problems I could cause myself in proceeding. I apologize for my ignorance in this area, but I suppose everyone started at the beginning at some point. If someone would kindly respond so as relieve my apprehensions, I'd sure appreciate your taking a moment to answer. |

| Polarbaby: The way my installation of osCMax works is that there is a /templates folder under /catalog. Each individual template has a subdirectory. I use the fallback template, so the directory is /catalog/templates/fallback. Perhaps the Cobalt template belongs there (/catalog/templates/cobalt)? Then you choose the Cobalt template through the Store Configuration functions in the Admin panel and decide whether or not to allow users to have template switching abilities (we don't). | how templates work.. 1) you create a template directory in /templates 2) upload any files you want or need to that directory 3) you assign that template directory in the admin side 4) the system will use /templates/fallback if it cant find what it is looking for in the template directory you created
