call for price module on base group
sign in creates membership group
membership sees non-base group

1) use the call for price module to allow you to show the modules without pricing
2) require people to create accounts to get pricing
3) when they create an account have them automatically put them in a default group and get group pricing for that group.

Thank you so much for taking time to answer my post I really appreciate it I will try to install the module although I'm not sure how to go about doing the pricing since from what I've been reading about this module you have to set the price to Zero in order to show "call for price", which I guess can be changed to "login for price" but I'll work on it and figure out how to have them go into a default group I'm kinda new to this version and file structure, But again thank you so much for taking time from your busy day to help me.

in MAX you can set pricing up by groups... set the retail pricing at $0.00 for everything
Then create a group called members with the real pricing.
Then change the "call for price" image to "Create account / log in for price"
Then create a single line mod on account creation that puts them in the "members" group when they create an account

Bingo. Done.

Now for the one VERY bad part of this. I see this when you don't have the "shipping in cart" module installed. You will get a large number of people that will create accounts and then not purchase. They will fill up the database with lots of crap data (email addresses like aaa@aaa.com). So, you may want to reconsider doing this.

I would reconsider doing it as follows.
1) list the MSPR as the price.
2) under the price put "- Our Member Discount"
3) Under that put "You must create an account and log in for our pricing"

So the price area on the page would look like:

####
MSRP: $29.98
- Our Member Discount
[you must create an account
and log in for our low prices]
###

This would show them what it costs at MSRP, and the entice them to get the member discount.

I would also mod the "buy now" action to (1) add to cart and then (2) if not logged in go to the create account page. When it goes to the create account page I would have a DHTML popup that comes up and says "Thanks for putting [product name] in your cart. Once you create an account and log in you will see our highly discounted prices on [product name]"
