    Default Changing default /images directory

This might be a stupid question, but I have not been able to find it anywhere on the admin section/configuration.

I am finishing configuring my OSCMAX (i love it!), and when I create a new product the image I attach to the product ends up on /images , which is starting to get cluttered. Is there anywhere where I can change this directory, so the main small image for the products will end up on another clean, empty directory, so they won't mix with other OSCMAX images?

All my products will have a product name XYZ and the main image will be XYZ.jpg, which I already have on another dir, so it would also do the job if I can tell OSCMAX to look for the images somewhere else.

    Thanks!

You can do this by uploading using the Easy Populate I have done some testing with the new one and works well.

** Example: Under row image: /new/abcd.jpg

This will add directly into the MySQL table

    Hope this helps

I am not planning on using EasyPopulate, but I do not see how that could help me with changing the directory where the images are stored.

Looking at the "products" table on the database, I see that the 4th field is the image name:

    ----------
    products_id - 42
    products_quantity - 100
    products_model - usb35negro
    products_image - usb35negro.jpg
    ...
    ----------

It only references the JPG file, and not where it is stored.
When I create a new product via admin/catalog I get to pick the image for the product thumbnail, and it automatically gets uploaded to mysite.com/images/ , what I would like to know is if I can change that directory somehwere else like /images/thumbnails/ so it doesn't get cluttered and the product images get mixed with other OSCMAX related images (category images, table_background_whatever.gifs, store logos, etc)

Oh yeah, and I already did a text search on the full database, it is not configured from there/admin section.

The only related thing I saw was the "Dynamic mopics configuration", where they configure the "images_big/" and "thumbs/" subdirs, which end up hanging from the main catalog/images dir, so I assume the /images dir must be hardcoded somewhere else.

Doing a GREP on all the tree structure of the store is a no-no, since it finds hundres of things

Ok, sorry. Guess I didn't quite understand you the first time.

You mean I can create the products, images will get uploaded to /images. Then I export the database, change all "image.jpg" to "thumbnail/image.jpg", import the database, upload the images again to /images/thumbnail and delete them from /images.

Yeah, I get it now, but the point is that I prefer the images not to get uploaded in there on the first place so they won't mix with all the rest of the store images, if I had to clean up the mess by hand later I would probably just leave everything messed up

What I was saying is you could do:

    The default is "images/"

You would still be uploading into images/"company1":

    company1/
    company2/
    company3/

    Hope this helps

I create my products from the OSCMAX admin section/catalog, don't really feel like creating them on notepad so I can later import them with EasyPopulate.

And when creating them on admin/catalog, the image will get uploaded on /images/ anyway, so it wouldn't be that much use moving them later...

I do not think that EasyPopulate will help me solve my problem

    Thanks anyway!
