| Just today I've watched my store come to its kness .... and I'm a little lost... all my mods have been in place for a while and I'm stable ... my local copy is fast ... but my hosted site is slow.... I'm wondering if something changed with php ... but I thought I would ask if anyone is aware of something that can take a very zippy ... 2-5 second loading site to a slow and sometimes no loading site? Denial of Service? PHP upgrade? MySQL Upgrade? Any pointers would be great .... http://www.commonbronze.com/catalog Thanks, Tony Da Minnesota Pollock |

| Check your server load. Turn off category counts in the admin. This will slow sites way down too.

| Server Up Time: 1:39PM up 7 days, 14:26, 0 users, load averages: 11, 10, 11 (Was like 10 or 11 minutes if I read this right) Now it is back to: Server Up Time: 1:39PM up 7 days, 14:26, 0 users, load averages: 0.22, 0.29, 0.36 I am thinking this is what you are talking about... is there somewhere I can see activity to try and figure out what was killing performance ... I have counts on and it is fast again ... arghhhh ... I love temporary problems |

| Here is your problem: Server Up Time: 1:39PM up 7 days, 14:26, 0 users, load averages: 11, 10, 11 The 3 numbers are 5, 15, 30 minute load averages. The averages should be 1 or lower and they are 10x-11x too high. Yikes, that server is waaay overloaded (at least it was when it slowed down). Check to see when stats run on that box. If it is a shared server, it looks like someone was hogging the resources. If it is not shared, ssh to the box and check the logs for anything unusual, or next time it spikes, find out what processes are causing it.
