Default upgrade from oscommerce-2.2ms2

If I have an existing store running oscommerce-2.2ms2, how disruptive is to to upgrade to oscmx 1.7. Does the database schema change alot? Will I have to create products from scratch again? Or is this something i can do fairly easily?

Default RE: upgrade from oscommerce-2.2ms2

There is alot of ADDED database fields in osCMax.... There is a tool that is included with osC that can compare 2 mysql dump files to UPGRADE one to the FORMAT of the other.... (look in /extras/mysql_diff ) This is a 3rd party script that IS NOT from us or osC...

What I have done before is to manually COMPARE dumps file so I have total control - at first only copy over the ADMIN and configuration parts. Use Easy Populate to export and import inventory. (Add Easy Populate to your old store if you don't already have it).

TEST TEST TEST!
Backup!!!

When satistify then - BACKUP!!! And then use Easy Populate again and then do a final database compare to transfer over customers and other changes...

SOME times it is easier to start fresh - you should be able to import customer and inventory dump the rest....

Good luck!
Good Luck
