| This morning I installed a new online store using osCMax. When editing stuff in the Admin section I suddenly hit upon a number of items where the login screen popped up when I wanted to edit the item. For example "Zone=Arizona" and "Email from". After logging in again the same thing happened. I do not seem to have access to particular features on the some of the input pages. I then created a new admin account (which I was allowed to do), thinking I would be able to set certain admin rights, which was not the case. The new account did not make any difference. It is unclear why certain edits are generating a login screen, but most do not. Anyone experenced this before? Suggestions? Solutions? |

| Thanks for your suggestion John, I checked all the settings, I have Admin privileges for all the available files. I even created a new member especially for Configuration, but that member has the same problem with "Arizona" Sometimes I am able to fool the system, when a login screen pops up, by using the Back button in the browser and am then able to perform the action I want. In each of the admin screens there are a couple of items that are not accessible. In Localization I was able to delete the French selection, but the German seletion I cannot touch. My sessions are stored in mysql. Just to make sure I also created /tmp directories, but nothing solves the issue. Ideas, Solutions, Anyone??? Thanks, Marinus

| Issue solved (I think) Why or how the login process got messed up I will never know. What made it go away: Logoff. I was so focussed on testing all scenarios to try and recognize a pattern, that the whole day I never logged out of the Admin pages. After I finally did, I could again update any item on the Admin pages. According to my limited insight the logoff finally reset the corrupted login info in the session file. Please correct me if I am wrong. Hopefully someone will benefit from this lesson. Marinus

| The problem is not solved yet. Most of the occurences of the login screen have disappeared after logging off. However when resuming my discovery of the system, I came across the point where the issue started previously, as I now recognized. When trying out EasyPopulate the login screen pops up when clicking on any of the links. My Logoff solution does not change anything in this case. Again I would like to call for solutions. Thanks, Marinus

| Check the link structure of the easypopulate. It will probably clue you in to the where the problem is. Make sure easypopulate has access to a temp directory and if you do not have a /catalog/temp dir, you need to create it and chmod it 777.

| Michael, thanks for your input. I already had a temp dir with the right permission in place When I hover my mouse over the links under Catalog (lefthand table) they all show the AdminID at the end of the address. When I click on EasyPopulate the window opens and in the address bar the file address is shown including the AdminID. When I hover over the Download and Create links in that page it shows similar addresses but without the AdminID. The absence of the ID apparently makes the login page pop up, when one clicks on the links. Why is the AdminID not appended to those links? All these links including the main one are in the same folder and the same access rights should apply? Any further ideas? Thanks, Marinus

| Hi Marinus, I just download the oscmax package again and installed it and cannot reproduce your problems. I am using windows xp pro, apache 1.3.27, php4.2.3, MySQL4. Did you have any problems during the install procedure? Is this a local copy or live store? Do you have much data in the database. - can you reinstall? You could back up the db and then reload after you reinstall Have you modified any of the admin files or the stucture of the database? Problems like this one which you cannot reporduce are always the worst type! |

| Just repeated the whole install procedure. No cure, problem is still the same. The previous time I checked the SSL box; this time I left it blank; no difference. I am running this app on an ISP server: apache 1.3.33 (Unix) php4.3.10 MySQL 3.23.57 I checked the EasyPopulate function before I made any changes to anything. So no mod whatsoever could have influenced the installation. Also noticed in Administrator - File Access - Admin Boxes menu that I can only "store files" in the Administrator box. As administrator I should be able to change all other boxes?? New ideas are welcome. Marinus
