Default Can't Access Admin after Install

HI,

I have been looking for an answer to my question and I have seen a few post that might fit. But I thought I would ask anyway.

I just did an install of osCMax_v1.7 – after install the catologe is working fine but the admin section gives me the follow error:

Quote:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
This is on my own serve which I am using to test and learn about osCommerce and osCMax and build my business site before hosting someplace else and going live.

My server is running:

Linux Debian OS
Apache/1.3.26
MySQL 4.1.7
PHP 4.3.10-1

Am I having problems accessing the Admin area because of using MySQL 4.1.7? (I read this in another post - but I'm not sure how old the information was, the post was from 2003) If I down graded what would happen to all my current databases in MySQL – would I need to reinstall them? I don't want to risk messing up other running applications.

Any help would be appreciated, I have been playing with osCommerce for a few weeks now adding all sorts of MODs and I am excited to find this version which takes care of a lot of the leg work. Great idea!

Default RE: Can

I think I figured it out.. at least I got in. I removed the .htaccess file (well not really I just changed the file extension).

Since the admin section is pass word protected do I need the .htaccess file in the admin directory? Is it used for something else that I just don't see?

Thanks!
