Default Unable to login using default login

I JUST installed my oscmax store (v1.7). I go to the admin page to login and it won't accept the default login.

I have NEVER logged in, and this is my first attempt to login.

    name: admin@localhost.com
    pass: admin

...is not working. ANY ideas how to login?

This post belongs in the osCMax forum, not the osCommerce...moving

That is the only way to login. If it is not working, your sessions are having problems. You need a /tmp directory that is world writable available to write sessions. A way around is to change your sessions to be stored in the database in the configure.php file for the admin.

my tmp directory (all all subs) are chmod - 706

--- I have used a few diff versions (loaded and not) of osc, and I still can't figure out why I cannot login.

I'm not sure if I specified above, but when I use admin@localhost.com/admin it returns with "ERROR: Wrong username or password!"

That only happens if your install is missing the default username and password in the admin. Check to see that the admin table is there, and that the default information is there too.

If not, your oscmax install did not complete correctly and you should reinstall it or add the admin table and data manually if you know how to.

When you say "table," that makes me think we're now talking about the database.
I guess an important question to ask is: does the installation make a database, or does the database have to be created manually prior to running "catalog/install" ?

Yes, when you install oscmax, you must select the option to install the data or it will not properly create the database structures. If you choose not to have the installer do it for you, then you must manually do it.

If you have the installer do it, you must have an empty database for it to connect to...

I went back, started over, created a database in cpanel, then installed oscmax, and its now working like a charm.

Now that I've got it working and can check things out, I MUST say that you've done an amazing job!
