Default template switcher not in admin?

Strange: i installed bts 1.4 and there was a templateswitcher in admin
I first installed oscommerce via cpanel with 3 clicks and then the contribution bts1.4 and everythins works fine.

Now i have installed osMAX 1.7 and uploades this to the server : and did nothing else ( like the former installation)
OosMAx opens with the standard oscommerce page

    Note:
The installation via cpanel does also the configuration for the MYSQL database automatically so the problem could lie in the fact that i did not make the databaseconfiguration via install.php for the osMAX?

    Yes,

CPANEL auto install is nothing at all like a manual install, so do not confuse the two. If you want MAX, you have to install it manually every step of the way.

A manual installation requires that you create an empty database for the installer to connect to. Then run the installer and it will configure the database from there. This is all in the installation instructions in the guide, so you should not be suprised:

    Thanks!

I tried to install, but i get stuck with :

Please enter the database server information:

1: ip adres of datbase server
2 : The username used to connect to the database server:
3: The password is used together with the username, which forms the database user account.:
    4: Database Name: janzeros_osmax

2 and 3 are ? i know via the (info webhosting)cpanel that the MYSQLpassword is *********( i can chance this password in Cpanel)
So left is 2 :i know from a local installation it was "root", but here ?

strange that this gives a lot of useless boring misreactions this screen and there is no progress

What a sucking affaire to only connect this databaseMYSQL to oscommerceMAX

    - i di d a oscommerce installation local : i made a databaseconnection
    - i install oscommerce automatically via cpanel and with bts1.4
    - i installoscommerce stand alone via autoinstall

and last this sucking os MAX what has been configured manually
Well it seems rather simple to do this via cpanel, but no connection yet

If you have installed WAMP ( windows, apache, and Mysql sepatared on the server than you can do probably more tweaks and options for MYSQL

autoinstall is probably with 3 mousecliks and manually is via the install screen, well i only have to now what the user account is of my MYSQL database

    puzzling further

It seems to me that the installationsinstructions on the vital info nothing says
To connect the MYSQL database you have to fill in the useraccount of the used database on the server : how do you know your useraccount?
this info has the webserver hosting company

So i just asked the hosting company to come up with this info

well i get info from the webhosting company it works now

Forr database connection you do need 4/5 answers in the oscommercepanel

1 localhost i got this from the hosting ( first i try this via the ip adress , but wrong
2 this is via your MYSQL panel eg in cpanel ( you can make this there)
    3 see above
    4 see above

so finally i do have a connection with the selfmade database, but there also some errors about chmod i solve this too
The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set.

still puzzling about in fact simpel installationproces if all information ( do and do's were provided by osCdox) proper listed.

It seems that there also a .qsl file has to be loaded in the database

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$
The file to import must be located and named at:

    /home/janzeros/public_html/osMAX/catalog/install/oscommerce.sql

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$

well also more complex for th ewhole installation process is the English language for me

So i use the osmax.sql to fill the database with the variabeles for osMAX, but get still th esame error

Well in autoinstall cpanel does do th eworkof loading the oscommerce.sql i think so this was a necessary step
BUT has still to solve those errors, because ther is no connection with the database
So i have to browse thrue the forum topics
