    Default osC Contributions in osCMax?

I've been building a site from scratch using the core OSC 2.2MS2 and a bunch of contributions. I had problems with the Option Type Feature contribution so I dumped everything and went with osCMAX 1.7.

I am very happy with what I have seen.

However, there are a couple contributions that I miss...

From the osCMAX documentation, I think I can get around "Column Controller" and "Center Shop"

But, there is a contribution called "On the Fly Thumbnail and Watermark Enhanced V1.0" and another called "Categories and Products Image Folder Tree V1.2)

Is anybody able to tell me if they are likely to work AND if I get in trouble with them, is it possible to get THAT kind of help on this forum, since it's kinda a mix between OSC and osCMAX?

    Thank you,

    Lobo

Yes and yes. They should work and you should be able to get help here. The only difference is that osCMax has BTS installed, so you may need to modify where you install some of the code. BTS moves the display code to the templates dir. Any mods that normally modify the files in the main catalog dir will most likely need to modify the /templates/[templatename]/content file of the same name...

Then, just make sure instead of overwriting files, you manually merge any code so that you do not overwrite any existing mods...

    Michael,

First of all, I want to thank you for your reply. I already like this place! I'm not a frequent poster, I'm willing to feel my way around and read documentation, but when I ask a question - I like an answer (even a wrong answer! LOL).

Secondly, I don't know how you do all that you do on this site and with this effort. But, I'm glad you do and I'm sure that many many more folks are, too.

I'll leave it at that and say that I understood your response, but I have to take a look at some of those template folders and see what it looks like in there.

    Kindly,

    Lobo

Default TextArea Box (Option Type Feature v1.71)

    Michael or anyone...

I did my install of oscMax and everything has gone real well. I am having one problem that I would like to know how to correct.

How can I make the TextArea box on the page below be WIDER than it is? You can see that I put the common cols="80" in there, without success. Even worse, in Netscape, it starts wider and then narrows when you type in it!

    Here is the link: http://www.shoplalaland.com/store/pr...products_id=85

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Lobotaman

FIXED! As it turns out, I found the answer in code for this very page! (while entering a reply post!)

The answer, in case anyone ever needs it is to add this text:

    style="width:450px"

I feel like a detective when I'm lost like that and can't find something! But, it is found now and I'm happy.

Hopefully this will be of use to someone in the future.

QUESTION: Is there a maximum number of characters for a mySQL database field? It seems from what I see that it may be 255. Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Lobo
