not getting text option entries for orders

I've installed osCMax 1.7 and everything seems to be working fine, except...
I'm using the text field product attributes for the customer to enter personalization information (name, dates, etc.).
The input for the product attributes in text fields don't make it into the order description. They get to the customer's basket, but don't follow through to the order. The other attribute types seem to work fine.
Any ideas?
