Default Manually adding products - 2.2 to MAX 1.7

Hi,
I'm currently using a very modified version of 2.2 and I've had so many problems trying to do a standard upgrade to MS2 MAX (of any variety) that I've decided to do a fresh install with MAX 1.7 and import the products and customers using phpMyAdmin.
So far it's not going too badly. I've got my categories showing up on the test server but no products are visible. When I look at the tables the categories and product IDs and product descriptions are all there but the other values such as the price, quantity, weight etc. have been reset.
I've been exporting the tables from the live DB in CSV format and then inserting them to the existing empty tables on my fresh install.
Have I been doing something blatantly wrong? If you could point me in the right direction or give any help or tips it would be much appreciated as I appear to be a complete novice when it comes to databases.
Thanks in advance.

There are extra fields in the MAX db structure. If you just export using csv then some of your fields will be in the wrong position. What you'd need to do is export from phpmyadmin using the "complete inserts" option which will name the fields and values specifically. You will have some empty fields but *hopefully* it will at least mostly work.

Your missing values wouldn't even actually show in the wrong fields using csv as you might have expected, as they would have the wrong datatype.

hope this helps

jon

Thanks for your help. I seem to have already had all the fields but for some reason it didn't want to copy over until I emptied the table and then populated it with the info from the live database.
Cheers anyway!
