Default Set Security after installation

I have just completed my installation ok and set my permissionions to
cataaloge/includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php
to 644 but I am still getting the following message at the top of my home page
Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/cdbooks/public_html/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

What have I done wrong and how do I fix it to remove this message
Thanks
Ray

You have no categories yet. Add a product category in the admin and that will go away...
