Strange behaviour

Ok, have MS2 max 1.5.5 installed. Have a couple catagories and a couple products to just test out the login, checkout phase etc.

I originally had it setup on my own Redhat box for testing with a self signed cert for SSL and everything worked flawlessly. I moved the site to a hosting company and at present do not have my own SSL cert so I am using a shared site SSL cert. This requires a different path, which was all entered in the setup of the site and seems to work fine.

I goto the catalog index via standard http and then click "my account" which points me to the proper https path and I get the login screen. I proceed to login and all is good. The site then reverts to a non ssl connection as I shop and add things to my cart. Then when I goto sheckout it throws me back to an https login screen where I log in and then get a page not found error.

Can anyone clue me in on what would cause this behaviour? Is it because of the path/url differences between the http and https? If anyone is willing I would be more than happy to point you to the site so you can see what I mean 1st hand.
