Default Will MS2-MAX overwrite my current shop?

I have OsCommerce installed with products and settings. Can I just install MS2-MAX and keep my current settings or do I have to do a new clean installation? Are there instructions on how to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

It will overwrite your shop, so do a clean install in a separate directory. Then you will need to upgrade a copy of your original database to the current MAX structure. There are no specific instructions on how to do this, but generally:

    1. Do a clean install of max in a separate directory and give it a new database separate from your original
    2. Make a copy of your original datbase
    3. Run mysqldiff comparing the MAX database to the copy database.
    4. Use the output from mysqldiff to update the structure in the copy database.
    5. Import admin and configuration data from the MAX database to your upgraded copy database.
    6. Connect your MAX configure.php files to the upgraded copy and check for errors.

If all is working, you have made the upgrade. Time to start editing the look of the site...

If not, time to start debugging...

How different are the database structures? Can you point out some specifics please?

Is there any way to let them share the same database? If not, can you give more details about how to transfer the products in the old database to the new one?
