    Default configure.php error & cannot change permissions on my se

    Hi all,

    New problem for me here. I just did a fresh install of osc-max on my windows xp test server. I recieved the following normal fresh ins tall error:
    Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: C:/webroot/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

    So I think, ah ha! I know how to fix that. So I cuteftp in and attempt to chmod the file which is set to 644. So when ever I try to change this or any file permissions, they say they except it, but then when I click on them again they are reset to their orignal setting. Now I have installed other stuff and set the perssions before with no problem. But I have been testing this "dog gon thing" and now apparently no files can be modified by chmod (not only osc-max files). What the flippin bejesus?

    Anyways, Anyone know what might be up?
    Again the situation is: cannot change chmod through ftp.

    Fiels on my onsite test server
    Windows XP
    osc-max 1.5.5
    Cuteftp professional 6.0

    I did a search but didnt find anything that answered this questions.

    Thanks!

    T

    Oh by the way, I tried making a script

    <?php
    chmod('includes/configure.php', 0444);
    ?>

    and loading it to the server. It worked during my last osc-max install, but for this install its not doing the trick. Odd.

    thanks

    Not odd - it Windows! "chmod" is a unix program - not DOS/Windows. You have to have shell access and use "attrib", I think... Or ask you host to mark it (or how you can mark it) as read only. You may have a Hosting Control Panel that you may be able to mark the files as read only.

    I don't use a Windows HOST so I am not sure - but this is a common problem.
