Default How To Change Main Text

The OSCMAX guide has the following instructions:

"Changing the main page center content

This is very easy in osCMax.

    1. Login to your osCMax admin panel.
    2. Click on Configuration
    3. Click on Define MainPage
    4. In the WYSIWYG editor, create your main page content.
    5. Save it. It is instantly displayed live on your site.

That is all there is to it."

However, when I do this on my preinstalled version of OSCMAX, I see no "Define Main Page" button, and thus no way to edit the text.

Then you do not have osCMax... It is in every version of osCMax since v1.5.5

Well, you installed it for me, so I hope I do have OSCMAX. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place. Here is what I do. I go to my site and login under www.mysite.com/admin.

I get to the blue admin screen, which appears to be oscmax, since it says AABOX.COM and Ms2MAX at the top.

I click on configuration. In the left hand box there is a list of items. Among them is WYSIWIG Editor 1.7, but no "Define Main Page." The WYSIWIG button appears just to set certain parameters for the editor, not open the editor itself.

A search of the page for the word "define" turns up nothing.

I did not read the above instructions thoroughly... They are not correct. Step 2 should be 'Click on Catalog' not configuration.

Well, that gets me to the editor, but then I get a message which says the file is not writable. Where do I find the file so I can change the permissions?

    /catalog/includes/languages/english/mainpage.php

It is a good idea to set it to non-writable again after you have modified it, for security reasons.

There has to be a directory named english, unless you removed the english language from your installation. It is in every installation of osCMax.
