Default Master / Slave Contribution for MS2-MAX

    Just a quick question-

Has anyone attempted to add the Master Product contribution to OSCMax? I am thinking about it, and I was wondering how hard it would be. Any ideas or suggestions?

Here is the link to the contribution:

    Thanks a bunch!

They give a step by step setup on how to do it - it should not be hard.....

Did anyone end up doing this? I was in the process of upgrading my old OSC pre MS1 store to a CRE Loaded store. My business partner was working on a fresh install of CRE and found a bunch of bugs in it. After a few conversations on the message boards we both saw that the idea of Open Source seemed to be lost over there. It seems to us like they are more interested in making money then they are in seeing "their" version get better.

I ran across you guys today and let me say thus far I am very impressed. I am not alone in saying that there a many of folks in that forum that are fed up and looking for a new home where the can contribute to a community that has its heart in the right place. Everyone has to make money but when it comes down to it without the many that came before us we would not have much to work with (cre, osc, zen whatever).

I really hope that I have stumbled across the right place.

Ok now back to my question? Did anyone have any luck implementing this? There was a also a different master type contribution written by some folks in Germany. I implemented into my CRE store that seemed to work. That may also be an option. Just a thought considering I have yet to even download copy of OSC Max to try.

    Thanks guys.

    Josh,

Welcome to the community. I started this project a while back, and it has grown leaps and bounds. The whole point of this software and community is to build a better osC based shopping cart that everyone can contribute to, and hopefully build their business using it. That is pretty much it.

Our community is open and we actually allow discussion of other versions (OMG! Miracles do happen!) and do our best to help with just about any problem you may have. We are not the largest community, but I daresay, we are the friendliest and there are some really great people involved in this site and osCMax.

Regarding you question, I have not used the mod in question, but it should work fine with osCMax as long as you take into account that osCMax uses the BTS template system, and modify the installation accordingly.

    Default we shall see :-)

Let's be straight about Cabana's issues. There are three core issues.

    1) Master Products
    2) Custom Computer Config
    3) Transition from one cart (PreMS1) to the other (PostMS2.2)

    1) required
    2) would be very nice to have
    3) a royal PITA

As for his comment on community and open source... I don't know what the rules are for posting a link to the thread in their forums, but you can feel free to go there and read them (seach by author of my handle) and you can see what changes have happened in the last few years.

BTW: Kudos to you on the fine selection of putting in RCS. If we decide to move to osCMax you can look for more tools to be coming like that from me (yes, that is my name in the 1.0 version).

    Michael,

Thanks for your response. It is nice to see there are still some folks in this for the right reasons. I look forward to becoming part of this community. Well I guess my partner Met00 let my other requirements out of the bag. I know we have gotten off topic, but if you have any suggestions you can send me a PM. Thanks again for starting the kind of project we have been looking for.

    1) Like I said yes it can be done. There is step by step instructions.... When I looked at it - it looked straight forward. If you had it CRE 6.0(w/BTS) then MAX should be farly easy.

    2) First compare to a PLAIN OSC MS2 and comment all CCC changed code. Convert to BTS next. Merge code into MAX.....

Not impossable - hard yes! Problems maybe! May have to remove/disable QTPRO (fully commented in MAX).

    3) Use MYSQLDIFF to get MOST of it converted. Some fixing may have to be done... I would only bring over customer data and products...Not any history.... Maybe the orginal TEP/MS1 to MS2 upgrade script might be looked at or run on your old DB...

RPITA - YES. Quickly done - Not likely. Impossable - NO!

Like I have said before - ANY contribution made for osCommerce can be put into osCMax!

Have a few problems - post here.
If you need MORE assistance? PM me.

    Good Luck!

Well I thought I would post an update. The Master Product I am loading is the German lite verison if you will and it seems to be going in pretty well. A coulple of minor issues but I should have it working today. Then on to a database update....YUCK!!!

Not sure what the "German lite version" is....The lastest is 1.1.5 with a few ADDONS....

SQL Database Update would be the easiest - does not conflick with anything else - it add to existing tables a few feilds and a bit more data for configuration... Nothing to sweat over ...

Here a link to that mod. It does not have all the functionality of the Master MS2 but it affects a lot less files.
