Okay maybe I have no been saying things right to get the right answers...so we try one more time...
I want to change the appearance of my site...I have files with nice modified graphics on them that I want to install...I heard it is as easy as changing the appearance of your windows desktop...so how do I do this...I obviously don't want to change the store format...I want it to look like a customized page, not just changing box sizes and background colors, that I know how to do, I have a html file and want it to be the main images?
Does this make sense, I am not sure...
guess I will find someone after this if I don't get a resolution that I can pay to modify it accordingly.
Please help, this is weeks of down time in a crucial season that I wasn't really counting on.
    thanks

    Hi nadinesky,

I am struggling to fully understand your message.

    Are you trying to:

    1) Install a new template?
    2) Add some images to your existing template?

Why not take a couple of screenshots of what you want to do and post them here so we can see what you are trying to achieve ... Probably worth posting your website address as well.

    Regards,
    pgmarshall

yes I am trying to install a new template...but I don't understand it, I have read every thread to no avail, I have the manual...the template comes with 3 different files, html, psd, and flash, I don't know where to put them, I read catalogue/templates, but I don't have that directory, I do know however where my current "fallback" template is.
I just need simple instructions, and I am scared to do it, as all times i have done it I get illegal page directory and screw things up big time, to the point I cannot return.
I am very new to this and trying so hard...everything i have read on installing it doesn't make sense as it differs from what I see.
    Everything Kids Need :
but not much to see...who do I hire from where to get this template installed, I can modify it after no worries, once it is in...I am seriously stuck and scared to do it all together now.
    sigh
thanks for listening and trying to help

First question, is it an osCMax template? Or is it just some generic template?

That makes a big difference as to how easy it is to install.

If an osCMax template, just follow the instructions that came with the template or ask the template provider for help. If not an osCMax template, you have a little work ahead of you.

First, you should install the BTS-HTML template system for osCMax (it is an easy install).

Then you should copy the included template (named compromise) to a new template folder. Name the new folder something that clues you in to what it is. Then you need to replace a couple of the files in that new folder with your template code. When you get to that point we can give you more specifics.

    Nadine,

Your question gets asked quite a lot on these forums ... so I have written something into the Wiki - have a read and see if it makes things any clearer!

You say you have a template - is this a purchased one designed for osCMax or is it a load of images that you want your store to look like?

    Regards,

    pgmarshall

To be honest, all I know about it is hat i will work with OscMax it is purchased from dreamtemplates and that is all i know.
Does that tell you anything to help me?
LOL...I honestly honestly thought it was simple as uploading it, changing he default name to match and BINGO new template...so far it seems to be the furthest thing from the truth.
    sigh

anyone to hire to do this for me?
Seriously, it seems like it is impossible.
    sigh

If it as osCMax template, it is as simple as uploading the template to the templates directory, then logging into your admin panel and changing the template name to match your new template directory.

Sounds to me like you are not uploading it to the correct location, it is not an osCmax template, or you are not changing the admin setting to the correct name, as your site is running the default fallback template right now.
