How to set page width?

Here I am again... Having trouble to set the page width...
I have installed osC MS2-MAX...
I want to set the fixed width of 800 pixels instead of 100% on all pages...
According to http://wiki.oscommerce.com/helpModsTableWidth, I need to change the value on default.php, which I assume public_html/catalog/index.php...

But look... I do not have the field that I can edit this...

Ignore the wiki docs for MS2-MAX. They do not apply here.

You need to modify the main_page.tpl.php in the /templates dir.

Remember, MS2-MAX uses BTS, so all cosmetic changes like this are handled in the templates dir and the templates/content dir.

I want to change the logo on header and also add more icons, such as catagories, help, ship buttons...
Do I use main_page.tpl.php in the /templates dir to edit?
For the icon images, do I upload to public_html / catalog / images /?
I know I'm asking too much, but please help...
