unable to connect on localhost (10055)

The Ms2_max installed and works fine, except that when I try to open some files in admin (wysiwyg editor, affiliate program, configuration.php, etc..,) or in catalog (checkout_shipping.php), I get this error warning:
Unable to connect to database server!

with, in error log:
Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10055) in
c:\program files\apache group\apache\htdocs\librairie\catalog\admin\includ es\functions\database.php on line 17.

I don't how to solve this problem.

What's that, code 10055??

My dev site is on win98SE.

No such a problem with the MS! version.

Any help should be appreciated!

I believe this is related to your setup, but not a problem with the MS2-MAX. osC cannot connect to mysql for some reason... Anybody else running this on win 98?

need to know a few things what server are you running on your win98 box
is it apache you installed yourself? or a package like phpdev, or phptriad abyss etc.
Also can you post both your configure.php files?
so i can have a look
