Please don't say to make it ON in php.ini file

is there any way without it?
You can try this in .htaccess:
php_flag register_globals on
If the server allows overrides, you should be good to go.
If not, you could try the register globals mod for osC...
You can try to apply this MOD: osCommerce SEO - Running osCommerce with Register Globals Off - Magic SEO URL - Search Engine Optimization
If it will not work correctly for osCMax, please post here whats going wrong.

I installed the fix shown above on a new installation of oscMax 2 and (so far) everything seems to be absolutely fine.
