Default Choosing Shipping Module on a per Item Basis, Doable?

I have my latest osMax 1.7 site running nice and smooth and it's great but our company is now adding a select product line that needs to have UPS rates for the shipping options, until now we've used set prices for our items.

Is there a way to add the ability to select which shipping module is used for a specific item?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Sammy

Not sure there - Per location/area - yea - add in per item - maybe. But to choose shipping method per item can cause real headacks when combining. I think you need to rethink this. maybe taking a step back and take a bigger look. There might be a better way to work this.

Is there a min charge or a max charge or is it based on smaller, lighter, bulky, heavy, or lenght considerations?

Maybe explain what you need or what the problem is - might help!

    Ok,
    here's the issue.

Item 1 has set shipping rates for Ground, 2nd Day and Overnight. I have this working in the shipping modules with the individual rate mod. The rates are entered in the product edit page. Due to this setup Item 1 however many times put in the basket the shipping will double and thats perfectly fine for item 1.

Item 2 is based on it's weight. And this is where the issue lies. If I have set the shipping for said item which only ways about 2lbs. to 2.50 adding more quantities of said item should not cost double for shipping it should be weight based.

After some thought I figured I would remedy the situation a little and decided to duplicate item 2 but change the quantities and set the correct shipping rate for the various quantities. So in essence I have a listing for 1 Box of item 2, a listing for 2 Boxes of item 2 and so on. This is not the best way to do it but it works for now.

    ANy thoughts?
