Default Too Many Attributes?

Hi,

Is it possible that osCommerce does not work after a certain amount of attributes? This store has 4000+ products, with 13000+ attribues.

When I log into the the store admin, and click on the attributes link in the menu, it just keeps loading and loading and loading until it eventually times out....

I just bought a dedicated server for the website in question, and the problem is still not resolved.

Is there any known limit on the attributes? Is there any solution to this issue?

The store owner is getting increasingly frustrated that they cannot update their products/attributes/etc.... so urgent help would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Jon

Default RE: Too Many Attributes?

You need a DB expert..... You need to add Indexes to your DB and force OSC to use them.... How would you feal if you have to search 13000 records for each and evey item you pull up....

Try and reduce the AMOUNT of DIFFERNET ATTRIBS - Combine common names like Color, Size, Model, Weight, Range, Option etc....

Looks like you have on average 3 unique attrib for each and every item....

I have posted a few thing I found about speeding up DB on the forum here some where - but a DB expert would be what you need to tweek for your unique setup.
