| I've been informed by my webhost that one of my stores that's running osCMax 1.7 is crashing their server. Apparently, connections to the database are not being closed when a customer leaves the site, so each time a new visitor enters a new connection is opened and eventually all the available memory is used up and the server goes down. Considering the server has 1GB of RAM, that's a lot of open connections. I've added three mods to the store, QTPro (modified to work with BTS), CVV 1.4 and Additional Table Rate Options v1.2. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem? I did go into both config files and set the persistent connections to "false" but I don't know if this will solve the problem or effect the way the store runs. Help! |

| Persistent connections should ALWAYS be set to false on shared hosting. Most shared hosts already disable persistent connections serverwide which will not allow persistent connections, even if you have it set to true osC. I suggest you look into any slow queries that are running, as that can cause things to die quickly, if you have a lot of slow queries running, and starting before others finish, you can kill a server. Really, you should be working with your host on this. Have them provide a slow query log for you to look at the problem queries from your site. Also, they should provide any relevant log information that can help you track down the source of the problem. Most likely they will already have this info, since they would need it to even know it was your shop and not somebody elses that was causing the problem.

| Thank you, Michael. I'll send your reply straight on to my webhost. This store is my biggest success to date, and I'm anxious to keep it running smoothly. The client has four brick-and-mortar stores, and this website generates more revenue than at least one of their physical stores. Thanks again. |
