Default URL template switching... whats the switch?

OK this is going to sound stupid...

I'm trying to build a new template without disturbing my live site... I remember that there's a switch you can type into the URL to view the site with a different template, but I can't for the life of me find what it is.

Anyone know? And where can I find it in case I forget again? I searched the FAQ/Guide... found lots of references to it but none saying what the actual switch was.

It's in the admin panel under my store. There is a switch to allow template switching through the URL.i

I think we understand that. But how is it used? What URL do you use to use a template through it?

Add this after the index.php in the url:

?tpldir=aabox
?tpldir=osC

Get the idea?

Default Template Switch in URL for 2.0?

Should the URL append work in 2.0? It's not for me...

I enable template switching and some templates like aabox, don't seem to support it. My modified osC template allows switching, but I can't switch back.

The only way I can get switching is by changing the value in the Admin.

Anyone tell me what I am missing?

Default RE: Template Switch in URL for 2.0?

try tplDir= (with capital D), i.e. index.php?tplDir=CSS-fluid-1. That worked for me..

I tried pasting that onto the URL in my store and it didn't evidently change anything that I could see.

I think that when I first posted on this, I meant to communicate that some of the templates put the template list into the store display and allow switching, when switching is enabled, and if you select one of the ones that don't, there's no obvious way back, but closing and reopening the browser- a minor point, but it's nice to be able to try out all the templates just by clidking through them.
