TEXT Product Option Attribute Broken Out of the Box?

After experimenting with trying to fix the all to common text attribute not carrying over its value, i decided to try a fresh new install, make an attribute option, apply it to a product, and BOOM when I view the order in the admin it says TEXT. I thought the bug was fixed in the latest 1.7 download available?

Has anyone been able to get this to work i've blown a good days work trying to get it to work. Can anybody tell me what the deal is? Please don't send me here......http://www.oscdox.com/index.php?name...tion+attribute. I've been taken to that post many times and its no good.
