New customer group

Hi,
I want to add a new customer group so I can make some of my customers "wholesale" and give them a discount. I've read in the wiki pages on how to add the discount but I can't find anything within the admin to add a new group. Within phpMyAdmin I found the customer group fields in the customer table but I can't find any table specifically for the customer group and I can't see how the pull-down menu in edit customer will work if I try adding something myself. I also don't want to mess with the database integrity.
I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Thanks for the links. I should have checked there. I just assumed it was built in to Max 1.7 because of the pulldown menu. Thanks again.
