| Hey Michael, Maybe I'm the only person wondering this, but according to a post on the oscommerce forum in early april 2005, Haral Ponce de Leon, the project manager for Oscommerce, stated that Oscommerce milestone 3 was scheduled to be released in 3 months (which means any week now) and 2 months later milestone 4 is to be released which will include a lot of oscommerce contributions -- similar sounding to what OSCMAX does now. http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.p...262&hl=ms3 I was wondering, could you shed some light on what your plans are for OSCMAX once oscommerce milestone 3 & especially 4 are released? E.G. 1. Considering MS4 is going to incorporate a lot of user contributions (which is what max does now) do you still plan to keep the OSCMAX project alive after milestone 4 is released? (I'm not certain what ms3 or ms4 is going to inlude so this may be a dumb question) 2. If you will be keeping OSCMAX alive after MS4, based on your current knowledge of the oscommerce project, what kind of differences do you forsee between ms4 and oscmax? In other words, if MS4 is going to include a ton of user contributions what will make OSCMAX unique from the standard oscommerce install? 3. Assuming oscommerce is still on track for the early July 2005 release, what kind of rough time frame would we be seeing a version of OSCMAX based on MS3 or MS4? I know from a programming standpoint there is no way to know exactly -- I'm just asking for a rough approximation (E.G. 1 year, 6 months, 3 months, etc) The reason I ask all this is currently my shop is at 1.5.5 and I'm trying to figure out whether I should take the time to upgrade to RC1 or if I will be wasting my time considering MS3 is almost ready. Thanks Michael for all you do! I look forward to hearing from you. Jonathan |
