orders missing...paypal only..live site

Hi

Just wondered if this is happening to anyone else. This is an intermittent problem (not ssl site) a customer will make an order. The admin side will not show an order, I get no confirmation from Paypal, and the first thing i know about it is when an irate customer emails me wondering where his order is.

He gets a confirmation from paypal, but not me. Nothing has been changed on my site and most orders are getting through... any ideas? (Cache set to false, cookies set to false). And why is it intermittent?

Small lazy unreliable gremlin perhaps...he he

Could do with some ideas though.

What version of paypal mod are you using?

If using the standard IPN that comes with osCMax, I highly recommend you update to the latest osCommerce Paypal IPN (the one created by the osC team). It is really easy to install and does not have any of quirky behavior found in the old IPN mod.

Otherwise, you could spend a lot of time tracking down the issue. Most likely you have something set incorrectly at Paypal (IPN settings, Auto return, etc...), since if the IPN is set correctly, it will kick out the notification to your shop and show up in your database.

Thanks for the quick response.

Using version 2.7, but the ipn has never worked (apart from yesterday, once, when it registered a refund,) This is extremely weird. There can't be a wrong setting can there? It only happens sometimes, not all the time, strange.

Going to check my account at Paypal, like you said, but I know IPN is turned on. Which version of Paypal would you recommend?

If IPN has never worked you have a problem somewhere. 2.7 is not included in osCMax, so I am assuming you did a mod upgrade. Regardless, I recommend removing the IPN mod that you currently have installed, and add the one I suggest. It works beautifully without any glitches at all.

The problem that your having is that your customer did not click the continue button once they confirmed the payment total in Paypal. This happens to us all the time too. We've talked to paypal and they will not make that button or link any bigger so the customer will see it better.

I'd like to find an easier fix for this also, other than having the customer go back into there Cart and do the checkout over again only choosing the Check or MO option for payment.

The paypal IPN mod that I recommend solves this problem. It uses IPN, which sends notice of a purchase from paypal even if your customer does not click the continue button.
