What i've been doing is taking a copy of the oscomm 2.2 data base, using the backup tool to create a comma delimited file then opening that up with exel and adding in any colums that do not match with the comma delimited file from oscomm MAX (there are new fields in some tables) and then appending that information to the one already from max and then running a restore. That usualy gets the job done for me.
Manually convert/change - That is best
I have also used a compare tool (use the MYSQL text dumps-the default backup format - and compare to your MAX database/backup) to add in what is missing - this has been what I have done in the past and works. Just "restore" the file in the new site (or use phpMyAdmin-SQL Query to popluate a fresh DB) and test...
Good Luck
