Default Can I hide / disable categories in OSCMAX?

    Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to hide category from being displayed but keep the products underneath alive so customers can purchase the product if they have the exact link but the category doesn't appear to the general public.

I've seen someone reference a mod that disables categories but they didn't say where to get the mod. I looked under the downloads on this forum but didn't see it.

Here's the reason I need this. I'm trying to use oscommerce to sell legal digial music files. I want to sell individual tracks as well as the complete cd download, all from the same page (like buymusic.com does). I do NOT want to have to create a separate category for each CD title, and then fill it with 18 different products in order to accomplish this as this will appear very confusing to customers. My plan is to have 1 product appear for sale, but then do a direct link for each individual track to the products located in the hidden category. I'm willing to put up with 18 products to sell the individual tracks, but I do not want the customer to see more than 1 of the products.

If anyone can tell me how to hide categories, or else give me another idea on how to accomplish this, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jonathan

The closes thing I could find is:

Hide products from groups of customers

It may not be what you needing but it is a shove in the correct direction.

Thanks for the reply. I will check into this. For now, I found a temporary way of accomplishing what I wanted. I found that products stored in the top level of the catalog (from inside the admin) don't appear in the categories, so it kind of works as a hidden product.

I'll take a look and see if this contribution works even better.

    Thanks again,

    Jonathan
